Welcome back to Out and About … where you can find out what’s happening in our community. August Jazz Night at Amedeo’s was a clear signal that folks are coming back from summer vacation and ready to start the fall party season! The beautiful and talented duo of Pamela York and Diane Landry kept the crowd entertained for several hours. Faces in the crowd included Ed and Peggy Glazier; Owen and Mary Ruth Jones; Howard Pitman and Anne Viault; William Trout; Eileen Booher; Ted and Diana Price; Dave and Bonnie Kluborg; Jerry and Diana Hertzenberg; Christopher and Jill Curran; Lupe and Josie Lopez; Hector and Robin Martinez; Paul and Denise Krieger; Richard and Len Leofsky; Tony and Cheryl Austin. After all the faint of heart departed, Leslie Raffa joined husband Tony; Mark Linabury arrived, and a few brave souls continued to enjoy the evening till…. Beautiful Gwendolyn Crawford threw a fantastic 55th birthday party for hubby Dave Crawford. Dave toasted Gwendolyn, who also had an August birthday and cheered their 3rd anniversary, also the same month—one very happy, in love couple! The lovely Crawford home was filled with good friends and great food. Guests included: Ron and Natasha Holley; Addie Wiseman; Dick Waller with his two gorgeous ladies, Michelle and Ashley Parnell; Jessica Zacek; Shelby Lewis (who walked in the 3K race with her mom Sharon Lewis that morning); Millie Garrison (Wayne was at the Texans game); CJ Johnson; Danny and Geralyn Sullivan; Daniel and Cherrie Ledoux; Tracy Zacek; Sevala Sadic and Terry Benton; Holly Oberst; Margie Riley. Of course, our favorite deejay Mark Linabury made the evening perfect. And tell me—did you have a bagpipe player at your birthday party? Earlier in the day Bill and Anne Elliott hosted an “end of summer” barbeque for about 44 of their closest friends at their delightful Lake Livingston getaway. From brisket to bread, sausage to salad, chips to cake and cobbler; beans to banana pudding – it was a great afternoon of friendship and fun; not to mention eating! Bill was happy to take guests on guided boat tours around the lake, and everyone hated to leave. Faces in the crowd included: Alan and Phyllis Adams; Alice Pope; Doan Mize; Tom and Mary Ann Wussow; Charlie and Judy Monaghan; Todd and Carol Sloane; Kirk and Carol Hood; Bob and Ruth Carter; Gaylon and Debbie McEntyre; Dan and Betsy Barberree, with Dan’s mom; Wes and Linda Miles; Rod and Eunice Dennis. Everyone was glad that former Kingwood residents Tom and Janet Sheahan were able to join in the fun. Three weeks after her birthday, FamilyTime executive director Judy Cox was taken completely by surprise at a party tossed in her honor by daughter Kathy Neal. Surrounded by family, friends and co-workers, Judy was thrilled by the celebration. Faces in the crowd included all of Judy’s grandchildren; son-in-law David Neal; sons Trent Cox and Kevin Cox with wife Frankie; Lloyd and Sherry Logan; Jim and Susan Meinholz; Juanita Zavala; Patrick and Dawn Evans and many more. One of my favorite luncheons of the year is “In the Pink of Health”, hosted by Northeast Hospital Foundation and benefits the Memorial Hermann Cancer Center Northeast. You won’t want to miss this one! Not only will the event honor nurse Linda Wuehst (also a FamilyTime Women of Achievement honoree), but one of the funniest ladies of television, and a breast cancer survivor, Marcia Wallace, from the Bob Newhart TV series, will be the guest speaker.
