It’s that exciting time of year when area beauties are showing their colors¯no, not leaves turning, but our lovely young ladies arriving at the universities of their dreams and being recruited by their favorite sororities. So stay with me as we find out who’s who and who’s where in the world of pledges. Sporting burnt orange at University of Texas: Emily Walters: Alpha Chi Omega; Emily Ogonosky: Alpha Delta Pi; Courtney Vetters: Chi Omega; Erin Ellisor: Delta Delta Delta; Katelyn and Katie Martin: Delta Gamma. The Aggies won Kelsey Dusing: Kappa Kappa Gamma: Sydney Krimm: Zeta Tau Alpha; Sarah McCollom: Delta Gamma. Geaux Tigers¯at LSU: Claire Bugner: Chi Omega; Bella Diaz: Delta Zeta; Michelle Edwards: Kappa Alpha Theta; Allie Cantrell and Sarah Dickson: Pi Beta Phi; Chelsea Gros, Christina Kelley, and McKenzie Pieper: Zeta Tau Alpha. Chi Omega is big at Texas Tech with Allie Patin, and Stormy Veatch; Hannah Clegg is pledging Kappa Alpha Theta; Becky Byrne choosing Alpha Delta Pi. At Texas State University you will find Paige Brady, Callie Long, and Courtney Thevenot pledging Delta Gamma; Melissa Donoho pledging Chi Omega, Kari Bosien pledging Alpha Delta Pi. Kaylee Richards went Delta Gamma at TCU. Just to our north, Oklahoma State University is lucky to have lovelies Molly Hubbard with Kappa Alpha Theta and Kate Vogel with Kappa Kappa Gamma. Pi Beta Phi has captured Maddie LeBus at rival University of Oklahoma. Auburn University Tiger alums Diane Blanco and Pat Chandler are roaring with pride over Noni Klingensmith pledging Alpha Xi Delta; Katy Campbell pledging Delta Zeta; Mary Vondrak pledging Kappa Alpha Theta; Lauren Frazier pledging Pi Beta Phi. Good friends Madison Bailey and Steffi Sladek are together at University of Alabama, pledging Gamma Phi Beta. And all the way up at the University of Kansas, Alexa Buffington is a big hit with Kappa Kappa Gamma. Whew! If that isn’t enough Greek excitement for you, be sure to attend the Kingwood Area Panhellenic Alumni meeting on Thursday, Sept. 30 at the home of Marie Halvatzis. All members of National Panhellenic Conference sororities are invited to attend. Please bring a salad to share. Mary Hubbard surprised attorney husband Pat Friday night at Amedeo’s with a celebration of his upcoming October 1 birthday and the open house of his new office in the Chase Bank Building set for Sept. 23. Faces in the happy crowd included: Dr. Andy and Charioty James; John and Marilyn Lupe; Carol Kirsten. You absolutely won’t want to miss the unique sounds of Ezra Charles and his Blues Band when they perform this Friday evening for the Keller Williams Northeast free concert at Kings Harbor. Ezra has been around for a long time, and like the rest of us, never seems to age a bit! The 7th anniversary of Kingwood Chamber of Commerce will be celebrated. Bring your lawn chairs, your sweetie, and your dancin’ shoes, and come out to enjoy great music and specially priced take out from Harbor restaurants, from 7 – 10. Sweets and sweet music – of course, it is a “Stellar Evening” of music performed by the talented Lone Star College-Kingwood music faculty, followed by a delicious array of delectable desserts. The place to be is SFA Performing Arts Theatre at (LSC-K), Saturday, September 18 at 7:30 pm. Admission is $20 for adults; $10 for students. Advance reservations are appreciated: 281-312-1532. Proceeds benefit LSC-K Fine Arts Scholarships. The Sunday night Supper Club recently enjoyed dining at Alma Latina Mexican Restaurant. Faces in the crowd included George and Jean West; Judy Miller; Karen Bush, Howard Pitman and Anne Viault. Missing that night were Bob and Vicki Deforest who were in Russia. Other area travelers enjoying the last days of summer: Cherryl Young and Todd Finney who recently returned tanned and rested from Cabo, where Cherryl had her first parasailing experience. Molly Webb enjoyed a long Labor Day weekend at her family home on Lake Erie in PA. Anne McIlhany and her cousin Cathy took a quick trip to Tel Aviv.
