In a year where the Humble Wildcats’ boys basketball program completed a silver anniversary of playoff appearances, making the streak 25 straight years, the program also had an undefeated district season and playoff run that resulted in numerous All-District awards.
Lair Crawford was named District 21-5A Coach of the Year; it is the second straight year he has won that award.
The Wildcats also took home a Co-Offensive Player of the Year in senior Kendrick Washington and Defensive Player of the Year in Kendrick Gathe.
On the first team All-District roster, the Wildcats placed three players in seniors Jaylon Alsanders and Latrell Hill, and also junior center Justin Lawson.
On the second team, senior Joe Temple earned a nomination.
In all, the Wildcats’ seven players on the All-District teams led the district, with Crosby notching five nominations, and Barbers Hill taking five nominations as well, including its Co-Defensive Player of the Year, junior Max Armer.
Also in District 21-5A, the Kingwood Park Panthers, even with a tough season, earned a second team nomination in senior Tyler Chavers.
The Wildcats, after their regional quarterfinal run which ended with a loss to eventual 5A state champion Port Arthur Memorial, now head into the offseason with various challenges.
The Wildcats not only lose three key players from this year’s team (Alsanders, Hill, Washington), but realignment will pose new challenges for the Wildcats as well.

After this school year, the Wildcats move to District 22-6A; this puts four of the five area Humble ISD high schools in the same district and includes the return of Humble and Kingwood in district play.
Meanwhile, Kingwood Park will try its hand in 20-6A which not only includes several of K-Park’s old district foes such as Porter and New Caney, but schools from Tomball, Huntsville, Willis, Montgomery and Conroe as well.
